Originally a native of West Virginia, Dr. McKimmie moved to North Carolina after receiving his undergraduate degree from Harvard.

He completed medical school and his Internal Medicine residency at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital and his Gastroenterology Fellowship at Ohio State University Medical Center.

Dr. McKimmie is board certified in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
