Carles Surles, MD

A native of Four Oaks, North Carolina, Dr Surles earned his undergraduate, master’s in public health and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following medical school, he fulfilled an Internal Medicine residency at The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Surles then returned to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to complete a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

 

After training, Dr. Surles moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he served that community for more than 20 years before returning home to North Carolina in 2024 to join Gastroenterology Associates of the Piedmont. With a passion for the breadth and complexity of his general gastroenterology and hepatology practice, Dr. Surles is elated to continue his medical ministry in Winston-Salem.

Aside from medicine, Dr. Surles enjoys spending time with loved ones, traveling, GOLFING, and working out. A lifelong Tarheel, he bleeds Carolina blue. Go Heels!

Important Water Boil Advisory Update for Our Patients

To prioritize patient safety during the current boil water advisory following a water main break in Winston-Salem, our endoscopy centers will be closed on Friday, July 31, and all scheduled procedures will be postponed. Our team has been actively contacting affected patients to reschedule their procedures.

Our clinic offices will remain open, and all scheduled consultative office appointments will continue as planned. We are taking additional measures to ensure safety and hygiene for patients and staff.
