Biologic Infusion Therapy
About Biologic Infusion Therapy
GAP offers Biologic Infusion Therapy for patients who qualify that have been diagnosed with a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease such as Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis. This medication is administered to you through an intravenous (IV) needle in one of the veins in your arm.
A provider may prescribe Biologic Infusion Therapy when oral medications used to treat one’s condition aren’t working as well as they should be. Infusions are typically effective, and the side effects are manageable for most people.
These types of medications are created using advanced technology, and can be made from living cells, proteins, sugars, and DNA. While the word “Biologics” can refer to many different medications that treat a variety of conditions, at GAP, we prescribe biologic medications that are specific to conditions of the digestive system.
