Robert Holmes, MD

Dr. Holmes completed his undergraduate degree at Kenyon College, his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas, and his residency and fellowship at the University of Michigan Hospital. He joined the group in 1996. He is also a clinical instructor in Gastroenterology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association and a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the North Carolina Society of Gastroenterology.
His hospital affiliations include Forsyth Medical Center where he acts as co-chairman of the Novant Corporate Pharmacy & Therapeutic Committee and is Director of Nutritional Support.
He also serves on the medical advisory board for PMG Research of Winston-Salem, where he in participates in clinical research studies.
Along with his general gastroenterology practice, Dr. Holmes has special interests in the Orbera gastric weight loss balloon, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), research, nutrition and hepatobiliary diseases.
