Early in her career, Dr. Patwa actively worked as a pharmacist until deciding to return to medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After moving to Ohio for a residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology, she decided to return home to North Carolina.
As a physician, she sees herself as a strong advocate for her patients and believes in partnering with them to improve their overall health and well-being.
Along with her general gastroenterology practice, Dr. Patwa is a participating provider in GAP’s Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Clinic and Liver Clinic, and collaborates with PMG Research of Winston-Salem in clinical research studies.
She is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the North Carolina Society of Gastroenterology.
To combine business with pleasure, Dr. Patwa participates in medical missions and community service projects. In her home life, she enjoys traveling, camping and hiking with her husband and three children.
