Courtney grew up in Hoover, Alabama and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from Auburn University in 2004 (War Eagle!). She worked in human genetics research at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, before she and her husband made the move to Winston-Salem in 2006.
She worked as a middle school science teacher in Rural Hall before earning her Master of Medical Science degree at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 2010 and is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Courtney joined our group as a Physician Assistant in 2012, and has been based out of our Kernersville office since it’s opening in the fall of 2018.
Courtney enjoys seeing patients for a variety of gastrointestinal issues but her main focus is to improve their quality of life. Professionally, she is involved with several organizations, including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants and the Piedmont Association of Physician Assistants.
In her spare time, however, she can be found spending time with family and friends, exercising and teaching classes at the YMCA, traveling, listening to podcasts about personal finance and curled up with a good book.
